Product code: HE1004483
Product Description
Teach short and long vowel sounds with these tubs, each including up to 8 animals or objects associated with a phonetic sound. Ideal for simple matching games, literacy talk and thought or quick-fire word quizzes. Packs also include an extensive teacher's guide with suggestions on using the tubs in class.
- It is really important that children can hear the difference between long and short vowels, as they are introduced to alternative ways of spelling the graphemes. In Year 2, when they begin to learn spelling rules, they need to be able to distinguish between long and short vowels in order to be able to add the suffix with understanding.
- These tubs are an excellent way for children to hear the sounds through play and sorting the toys, enabling them to hear the difference before they see it in a written form.
- The tubs could also be used for interventions where children are having difficulty distinguishing between the long and short vowels
- Recognise vowel digraphs which have been taught and the sounds which they represent.
